GDPR Compliance
One of the biggest changes to data privacy law came into effect on May 25, 2018.
The General Data Protection Regulation (or GDPR for short) is a really positive step towards you having more control over how your data is used and how you’re contacted. The changes will also help to better protect your personal data. We have updated our privacy policy to reflect these changes, which you can find here or in the footer of our website.
GTR is committed to complying with GDPR and has taken practical steps towards achieving this by
- Appointing a Data Controller and Data Processor
- Reviewing current practice and repermissioning our contact database with the provision to store acceptance and preference choices for each contact
- Taking a reasonable and legitimate approach to keeping our database current by monitoring contacts older than 24 months
- Creating third party contracts for data suppliers
- Creating third party contracts for sponsors
- Updating terms and conditions with our new privacy policy for sponsorship contracts, event emails and subscriber information
- Sharing desensitized delegate data with relevant third parties
- Training all staff in GDPR awareness and compliance
- Storing data securely
- Implementing a breach recording process
