Speciality re/insurer Canopius has hired Swiss Re’s Norm Kimber as a credit and political risk underwriter.
Kimber will begin the role from January 1 next year and remains based in London, reporting to Patrick Sheriff, Canopius’ head of credit and political risk.
Canopius says Kimber “will play a key role in strengthening the credit and political risk team and deepening relationships with export credit agencies, multilateral organisations and other public sector partners”.
Since 2021, Kimber has led Swiss Re’s Emea sovereign credit and political risk team.
He joined the re/insurer in 2017 from Zurich Insurance Group and during a 30-year career has also held underwriting roles at the African Trade Insurance Agency, the World Bank’s Multilateral Investment Guarantee Agency and Export Development Canada.
Sheriff says Kimber “brings a wealth of experience and sector expertise that will be invaluable as we strengthen strategic partnerships and further expand our credit and political risk portfolio”.
“He joins at an exciting time for our team, and I look forward to working with him to deliver exceptional service to our brokers and clients.”
