Alex Gray

Alex Gray leads the Trade & Transaction Banking division at The London Institute of Banking and Finance (LIBF). His career in trade finance began in 1989 when he joined HSBC as an International Manager. During his tenure, he undertook various Sales and Operations roles across multiple global locations. Notably, he served as the Head of Trade Services for the UK’s Trade Operations, where he was instrumental in developing the Anti-Money Laundering (AML) program for Trade.

After his successful career at HSBC, Alex joined Santander, where he developed and delivered a comprehensive Trade-Based Financial Crime workshop for the entire UK Corporate Bank.

In addition to his role at LIBF, Alex founded and runs Gray Bay Consultants Ltd. His consultancy focuses on projects for Complidata, a fintech company specializing in document and compliance checking for trade documents. Alex’s straightforward and impactful contributions highlight his extensive expertise in trade and finance.

Alex’s excellence in the field was recognized with the award for Best Trade Finance Education Provider at Trade Finance Global’s International Trade Awards 2022.
