Global broker Aon has made three additions to its trade credit and credit risk transfer teams across the UK and Europe.
Mez Patel [pictured] will join the firm as head of global sales for Aon Credit Solutions in June, focusing on growth across the UK trade credit market.
Based in London, he comes to Aon from Allianz Trade, where he spent 18 years. His most recent role was regional sales director for Allianz Trade’s multinationals-focused arm.
Patel has around 20 years of experience in trade credit insurance and strategic sales leadership, Aon said, and brings expertise in structuring and underwriting bespoke trade credit solutions for SMEs, mid-market firms and multinationals.
Patel said: “Working closely with multinational corporates and financial institutions, my role will centre on partnering with insurers to deliver practical, sustainable, and bespoke insurance-backed credit solutions to support clients’ growth, risk management strategies, and unlock working capital.”
The broker has also made two senior appointments, Alberto Carrion and Nicola Mondone, to its Lenders Solutions Group, which aims to help financial institutions navigate complex risk landscapes.
Carrion is based in Madrid and joins from Santander, where his most recent role was head of private credit insurance and executive director, private debt mobilisation.
He has more than 15 years of experience in banking, including expertise in trade credit insurance, credit risk insurance and surety.
In the new role, he is tasked with expanding Aon’s Lenders Solutions proposition.
“My work centres on advising lenders across capital intensive and trade-related asset classes, helping them manage country, counterparty and concentration risk, while addressing regulatory and capital constraints,” Carrion said.
“This includes enabling access to additional liquidity pools by using insurance solutions as an efficient tool to support the origination of new transactions across different underlying asset classes, from both risk and capital perspective.”
Milan-based Mondone joins from Guy Carpenter, where he was senior vice-president at the broker, focusing on credit risk transfer and capital optimisation.
At Aon, he will work on synthetic and true sale securitisations alongside energy sector and data centre project finance.
“I developed my career as an arranger and placement agent of credit risk transfer transactions to the insurance markets, and I have contributed to growing insurance market participation in SRT [significant risk transfer] since its infancy,” he said.
Mondone has more than 20 years of experience on both the buy and sell side of the credit risk transfer industry. Previous roles include business development director at Amtrust Mortgage and Credit and European enterprise risk manager at Genworth Financial’s mortgage insurance arm.
