Eric Bonnin has taken over as Société Générale’s head of trade and sustainable commodity finance in Switzerland.
Bonnin is based in Geneva and reports to both Pierre Lebit, the bank’s country head in Switzerland, as well as to Alexis Christodoulou, global head of sustainable commodity trade finance.
Société Générale said Bonnin’s “deep expertise in advisory, structured finance, commodities and sustainable finance will be key assets in the continued development of the commodities trading business in Switzerland”.
He has been at the French lender for more than 30 years, and previously held advisory and coverage roles in commodities, energy, metals and mining and was global head of the lender’s sustainability and impact advisory team.
Bonnin replaces Patrick von Deschwanden, who took over trade and sustainable commodity finance in Switzerland in June last year but has since left the bank.
